Aims & Scope

SEEMES constitutes a peer-reviewed study series, which serves as a platform for young scholars who have recently finished their PhDs. SEEMES aims to publish innovative and excellent research on the history and culture of South-East Europe and the Middle East from the 15th to the 21st century. Trans- and interdisciplinary approaches are more than welcome. Applications submitted may ideally have an historical, anthropological, sociological, cultural, economic background or be based on religious studies, translation science, Ottoman Studies and Balkanology.
Linguistic and literature studies without societal anchorage have no priority. SEEMES offers, for the first time, the opportunity to publish papers addressing both South-East European and Middle East issues. Such papers will be given priority, since they help to bridge the gaps between South-East European and Middle East Studies and emphasize the shared history and 'imprints' of these areas.
